Unistar-Sparco Computers, Inc., dba Sparco.com, is a comprehensive IT solutions provider. Founded in 1992 as an Internet business, we were one of the first Web-based companies to offer a complete IT solution nationwide. We have since evolved into a value-added Solution Provider successfully engaging the Government and Education segments, as well as the Enterprise and Small-Medium Business markets.

History

 

Unistar-Sparco Computers was the brainchild of Soo-Tsong Lim and Mubashir Cheema, both computer engineering majors at Mississippi State University in Starkville. They started the business in their college dormitory selling generic-brand desktop PCs to other students, but found that the inevitable 2:00 a.m. calls to the “Help Desk” severely interfered with college studies.

 

Mr. Cheema then switched to selling only modems, advertising on Internet bulletin boards. This early e-commerce operation led to the founding of Sparco.com in 1992. Mr. Lim started working in the retail market, selling Unistar brand PCs. In 1996, the companies merged to form Unistar-Sparco Computers, Inc., with a brick-and-mortar retail storefront and an e-commerce division.

 

As a young start-up, Unistar-Sparco Computers found it relatively easy to adapt quickly to the volatile market that developed during the dot-com implosion of the late 1990s. Since then, the company has emphasized steady growth and a constant focus on meeting the changing needs of the technology market by continuously adding new products and services to its offerings.

 

Today, with a knowledgeable IT staff and a line of more than 15 specific solutions and over 1,000,000 available products, Unistar-Sparco Computers is well-positioned as a complete IT Solution Provider.

Sparco.com is also a corporate sponsor of the annual Firecracker 5K Run, a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Annually, over 15 members of the Sparco.com team participate in this event to help support research on catastrophic children’s diseases.
